A devout Catholic, Stephen Sladowski joined the Holy Name Society and rose to become its President. The Society is an association of adult Catholic males who undergo a rigorous vetting process studying the history of the organization, its rules, mission, and objectives and then taking a pledge of indoctrination. Once completing this process, a member, or apostolate as they are called, must adhere to the mission of the society by helping to "feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the homeless, and tend to the sick". All of this he did his best to fulfill.
